Preparing for your theory test
The theory test is not designed to catch you out with tricky questions and hidden meanings so don’t panic about it. What you need to do is read and understand the highway code and then practice the test. If you are nervous or unsure of yourself the more practice you do the easier the test will be on the day.

There are many books and cd’s /dvd’s that are available to help you revise. We would recommend using the official DSA publications. There are many you can buy but we would suggest you get the CD (The Official DSA Theory Test for Motorcyclists 2008/09 Edition CD-ROM - ISBN: 9780115529306) for the multiple choice part and the DVD (The Official DSA Guide to Hazard Perception DVD – ISBN: 9780115528651) for the hazard perception part. You will also need a copy of the highway code (ISBN: 9780115528149). This will allow you to practice on you PC in an environment similar to that you will have on the day and it uses the full bank of questions you will get on the test. If you don’t have a PC then you can buy a book version of these.

You can purchase these at high street bookstores (e.g. WHSmith), via Amazon or direct from the DSA. These are also available at public libraries.

The DSA also provide a service so that you can practice the multiple-choice questions online. This can be accessed here.

Theory tests are out of the control of Smart Learning so we require you to book this directly with the DSA. Click here to go to the DSA website and book your test at a test centre near you.
